A graduate in Politics & International Studies, I have over 20 years’ experience working in multimedia and communications, particularly designing, building and maintaining websites, writing, proofreading, and editing.
During the last 7 years, I have worked at the award-winning company Espresso Education and strengthened a burgeoning skill set in web development and design - from hand-coding to debugging code, from localising content to wireframing and designing sites, and from building templates to customising content management systems.
My editorial background and technical prowess ensure that I work well in teams, working through ideas, helping to progress projects from briefs and prototypes to wireframes, builds, QA, testing, and final sign-offs.
I am familiar and comfortable working with Agile, SCRUM and Prince 2 methods, as well as coordinating developers, designers and editorial teams within projects.
I have a good understanding of libraries, frameworks, tools, and APIs, such as jQuery, SWFObject, Modernizr, Bootstrap, subversion, Twitter, Facebook, and Google Maps. I am currently getting to grips with AngularJS and Grunt.
Since Espresso Education moved its content creation and asset management to the Unify CMS, I have been developing and customizing templates and advising and guiding users. I have gained expert knowledge of building templates in XSLT, XML, XPATH, and XQUERY. I also specialise in CMS platforms like WordPress, using themes, plug-ins and APIs.
Additional skills include using Adobe Creative Suite for graphic design and wireframing, writing for books, magazines and websites, proofreading, editing, photography, video-editing, and subtitling.
